Mr. Dan O'Reilly '14 Attends Excellence in Teaching Conference at University of Notre Dame

This past weekend, one of our very own English teachers and alums, Daniel O’Reilly ‘14, went to the Excellence in Teaching Conference at the University of Notre Dame. Dan graduated with his Master’s in Education from ND in 2020.

There, he met up with current sophomore Nikki McNamara, Molloy salutatorian of the Class of 2021. Nikki is studying Chemical Engineering. They caught up about all things Molloy and Notre Dame, and had a great time!

The conference's theme was "Reading for a Better World," and one of the keynote speakers was Neal Shusterman, an author whose books are read by many Molloy students, including in Dan’s English classes. Popular books include Unwind and Scythe.

Shusterman virtually received the Alexandria Award last autumn, but was able to physically receive the award this past weekend. Dan, one of his former professors, and a current ND student had the opportunity to interview Shusterman upon the initial conferral last autumn. Dan also helped to create a curriculum supplement to help teachers use these novels in their classes.

We are so proud of the work both Dan and Nikki are doing!
