Knights of Columbus Award Scholarships to Molloy Students

This spring, Molloy welcomed members of the Knights of Columbus / Juniper Valley Council during a special scholarship ceremony. Peter Perroni (District Deputy) and Robert Schnell ‘79 (Grand Knight of the Juniper Valley Council) of the Knights of Columbus visited Molloy to congratulate scholarship-winning Stanners. Mr. Schnell, returning to his alma mater, led a brief ceremony and began his introduction saying proudly, “I’m glad to be home.”

The Knights of Columbus “were founded on the principles of charity, unity, patriotism, and fraternity,” and their purpose is “to bring assistance to those in need.” With over two million members all around the world, the goal of the Knights of Columbus is to “involve young Catholics in civic discourse and instill religion in them.”

The organization holds their annual Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest to give students the opportunity to earn scholarship for school. This year, 22 Stanners submitted essays into the contest, with all grades represented, and each grade having at least one winner.

Congratulations to Molloy's winners: Breeana Crace ‘25 (Freshman Winner), Kristen Mussalli ‘25 (Freshman Runner-Up); Anna Lampman ‘24 (Sophomore Winner); Brandon Pabon ‘23 (Junior Winner), Grace Murphy ‘23 (Junior Runner-Up); Peter Fudge ‘22 (Senior Winner), and Keeley Hurd ‘22 (Senior Runner-Up.) Junior Brandon Pabon’s essay moved all the way up to the international level of competition, placing second overall!

Congratulations Stanners, and thank you to the Knights of Columbus for sharing this opportunity with Molloy and our students.
