Bishop Robert J. Brennan Celebrates Molloy's Senior Liturgy of the Holy Spirit

Bishop Robert J. Brennan Celebrates Molloy's Senior Liturgy of the Holy Spirit

On Tuesday, September 29th, Molloy graciously welcomed Bishop Robert J. Brennan as celebrant of our Senior Liturgy of the Holy Spirit. The day began with a meet and greet, as students representing Campus Ministry welcomed Bishop Brennan and shared news about their involvement with many service initiatives and upcoming Catholic conferences. The students also presented Bishop Brennan with a gift, including a Molloy tote bag and a framed photo collage of his past visits to our school.

Bishop Brennan explained to seniors that Jesus "calls us to look deeper into reality, to see the world as it really is with the eyes of faith." He then told them, "My hope and prayer for you is that you encountered Jesus Christ here at Molloy… I hope and pray that with the power of the Holy Spirit, you are able to look deeper and see the world as it really is, not just as it appears to be. See the hand of God in the world, and the power of Jesus Christ living within you." Bishop Brennan ended his homily by encouraging our seniors to bring what they have experienced at Molloy with them to college and out into the world, telling them to "be that light for the world.”

Senior Brittney Martin '27 shared a reflection with her classmates, saying that while they have more freedom, responsibilities, and challenges as seniors, they must remember to live in the present moment. Brittney also reminded the Class of 2027 that they have lived out the Marist Pillars — Presence, Simplicity, Family Spirit, Love of Work, and In The Way of Mary — in many different ways over the past three years. "The Pillars are what make us a Marist community, and they have built us up throughout our years at Molloy. It is in those Pillars that we focus on the present."

Thank you, Bishop Brennan, for visiting Molloy and celebrating this very special Liturgy with our seniors! Thank you as well to our Liturgy Committee, our Junior/Senior Chorus, Mr. Jim Sheehan '75, Mr. Daniel Jones, and accompanist Mr. Ken Farnum.
