Alumni Visit Mr. Touzin's Virtual Enterprise Class

Recently, alumni John Paul Mussalli, Jonathan Zero, and Brian Weigand from the Class of 2022 returned to Molloy to speak with Mr. Touzin’s Virtual Enterprise class! The three were recently selected to take part in the prestigious Y Combinator summer incubator program, receiving $500,000 in investment funding. Y Combinator, or YC, is one of the world’s most renowned startup accelerators, having launched over 5,000 companies since 2005, including Airbnb, DoorDash, Instacart, and Reddit.

John Paul, Jonathan, and Brian’s company, CareSwift, was among just one percent of roughly 10,000 applicants chosen for YC’s summer program. CareSwift’s mission is to help emergency medical teams save time on on-site reporting while improving the accuracy of patient histories for insurance providers. The idea stemmed from Brian’s firsthand experience as an EMT in New York City, where extensive reporting requirements often limited the number of emergency calls he could answer.

The three alumni participated in a panel discussion with students, sharing their insights on entrepreneurship and what it takes to launch a startup. They reflected on their early interest in business during high school and how they carried that passion through college. Each emphasized the importance of identifying real-world problems, especially those they’ve personally faced, and building solutions that truly serve their customers.

John Paul highlighted how important Mr. Touzin and his VE class was in his journey and the growth of this company. He says, “Mr. Touzin and VE were instrumental in shaping how I think. The critical thinking and systems thinking I learned in his class drive how we make decisions and build CareSwift today.” Thank you, John Paul, Jonathan, and Brian, for taking the time to visit Molloy and speak to Stanners!
