Students Inducted Into Ray Egan Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society

12 juniors and seniors were inducted into the Ray Egan Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society on Wednesday, April 30th! The Molloy chapter is named after the late Mr. Raymond Egan, who taught at Molloy from the early 1960s into the 2000s. Mr. Egan was a Social Studies teacher, moderator of The Stanner newspaper, Chairperson of the History Department, and a beloved educator who cared deeply about his students.

Current Rho Kappa President Nick Vlachos ‘25 welcomed the inductees, and explained that members of this honor society are people who embody the ideals of “truth, knowledge, wisdom, and service.” Next, Secretary Gurpreet Heir ‘25 led the group in a Rho Kappa pledge, where they all promised to serve Molloy and their communities as strong leaders. Gurpreet and Vice President Melina Tobar ‘25 then handed each new member a pin and certificate, officially making them members of Rho Kappa!

Ms. Jennifer Lamb, moderator of Rho Kappa at Molloy, says, “I am very proud of the current cohort's efforts in their service project for this year - a historical study of the school's pivot to coeducation in 2000 and in their planning and execution of the induction ceremony.” Thank you, Ms. Lamb, and congratulations to all inductees!
