Dr. Mangar's Spanish Classes Host Service Trip Presentations

Molloy’s Diversity & Inclusion Consultant Dr. Alice Prince visited Molloy to present in Dr. Mangar’s Spanish classes. Dr. Prince and Ms. Wilson spoke to Stanners about their service trip to El Paso, Texas, during which they, along with student volunteers, helped immigrants that were migrating to the United States. Volunteers worked with the Encuentro Project, handing out food and clothing while learning about the reality of what is happening at the border.

During the same class, Ms. DeNoto also spoke to Stanners about the Marists of Champagnat service trip to Brownsville, Texas. A group of lay Marists traveled to the border of Mexico and Brownsville to assist Mexican immigrants in starting their lives in the United States. Ms. DeNoto brought in craft items she had bought from the trip, which were made by local members of the community. Ms. DeNoto explained that all proceeds go back into helping those in need.

Thank you to Dr. Prince, Ms. Wilson, and Ms. DeNoto on sharing their service experiences with our students. Thank you to Dr. Mangar for facilitating these class visits!
