Scholarships

Each year, Archbishop Molloy High School offers Merit and Named Scholarships valued at over $1.3 million!

Incoming students have the opportunity to be awarded either a Merit Scholarship or a Named Scholarship

Merit Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to top performing applicants based on their grades earned in 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade, and their Catholic High School Admission entrance exam score (approximately a 90% or more - local total achievement - on the TACHS exam). Other factors, such as extracurricular participation and excellence, attendance, and conduct may also be taken into consideration.  In order to be eligible for a Merit Scholarship, completed TACHS Applicant Records with the 6th, 7th and 8th Grade marks must be submitted by the applicant’s current school.

Named Scholarships

These scholarships are created by Molloy’s generous benefactors to help those who demonstrate financial need, though all are welcome to apply. Applicants must complete the Named Scholarship Application (found below), write an essay, and have a B average (3.0) or higher in the core subjects (ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies). There are several Named Scholarships awarded each year.

Named Scholarships: How to Apply

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Review the information on this page to ensure you meet the necessary requirements.

  2. Take the TACHS exam and list Molloy (Code: 012) as your first choice for high school.

  3. The Confidential Recommendation Form found here should be downloaded/printed two separate times and filled out and emailed/mailed to Molloy c/o Admissions from two of the following recommenders:
      • Current Teacher
      • Pastor and/or clergy in residence of parish
      • Principal and/or administrator
      • Guidance Counselor

*The recommender should know the student well and, if applicable, the family situation.
**Please remind recommenders to list financial issues or circumstances that would strengthen why you should be awarded a Named Scholarship. An                  example would be dire financial need, though not all scholarships are limited to that. *Ensure that if you are applying for a specific Named                              Scholarship, they do not give a general explanation but one that is specific to this scholarship.

  4. If you are emailing the recommendation form, please email to admissions@molloyhs.org and Cc Ms. Rebecca Wagner at rwagner@molloyhs.org. If mailing the form, please have recommenders fill it in, sign it, place it in a school or official envelope, sign it over the seal, and mail the form to: Archbishop Molloy High School, Attn: Admissions 83-53 Manton Street Briarwood, NY 11435

  5. In your application, which can be found below, please provide a one page type-written essay outlining why you qualify for a Molloy Named Scholarship, including:
    • Why you wish to attend Molloy
    • Why you are a strong candidate for a Named Scholarship
    • Highlight your personal qualities, experiences, and strengths
    • Ensure your name is on the essay and that it is a PDF or Word Doc format
*Note: You may list close relatives who have attended or who currently attend Molloy within the essay.
