The Marist Brothers
Saint Marcellin Champagnat once said, "Education is a work of love."
A Marist History
The Marist Brothers were founded by St. Marcellin Champagnat in 1817. A priest from France, Marcellin Champagnat was called to the bedside of a dying boy named Jean-Baptiste Montagne. Learning that the boy had no knowledge of God or his faith, Champagnat vowed to dedicate his life to making Jesus Christ known and loved through the education of young people, especially those most neglected. The Marist Institute was soon founded in La Valla, France, with the first Marist Brothers community acting as a school for religious educators.
The Marist Charism
The Marist Charism is an educational philosophy shared by ministries in 82 countries worldwide. Molloy faculty and staff teach in the tradition of the Marist Charism, introducing student to the five Marist pillars and encouraging them to be their most true selves.
The Marist Brothers
The Marist Brothers minister in our school and Marist schools around the world. They serve as teachers, guidance counselors, social workers, and more, with the intent of making a difference in students' lives.
