Richard Karsten '81

Mr. Richard Karsten is the President of Archbishop Molloy High School. As president, he oversees capital projects, works on expanding the scholarship program, and continuously keeps the alumni network active. Before being appointed president in July 2010, Mr. Karsten spent years as a brand consultant and creative director for prestigious companies before founding his own company, Karsten Creative LLC.

 

Darius Penikas

Dr. Darius Penikas has served as Molloy's school Principal since 2015. After graduating from high school himself, Dr. Penikas received a B.A. from Binghamton University in History and Economics, an M.A.T. from Binghamton in Social Studies Instruction 7-12, an M.S. from St. John’s in Educational Administration- School Building Leadership, a Professional Diploma from St. John’s in School District Leadership, and an Ed.D. from St. John’s in Educational Administration and Supervision. In addition to performing his duties as principal, Dr. Penikas teaches an economics course each year, and moderates Molloy’s Investment Club.

 

Ken Auer 

After receiving a bachelor's degree at LIU CW Post and a graduate degree at the University of Scranton, Mr. Ken Auer pursued a career in professional baseball and then moved on to work in education. Mr. Auer began teaching in Molloy in September of 1988. Originally hired as the Administrative Assistant for Students, he eventually began teaching United States History and Government, as well as Criminal Justice. In January of 2008, Mr. Auer became the Assistant Principal for Student Services, where he continues to oversee attendance and discipline records of all Stanners. In total, Mr. Auer has served the Molloy community for 25 years.

 

Maria Cuomo

Following undergraduate studies at SJU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, Mrs. Maria Cuomo began teaching at Our Lady of Grace School.  During her time there she pursued a path of educational leadership and in 2009 earned her master’s degree from SJU as well as her New York State Certification for School Building Leader. After teaching for 12 years, she gained valuable experience as a school principal serving diverse communities for 11 years. Mrs. Cuomo now serves as an Assistant Principal at Molloy where her concentration is in assessment and integrated programs. As a school administrator, Mrs. Cuomo strives to foster an inclusive school environment that celebrates learning and develops talents while enhancing the life and dignity of every student and member of the school community.  

 

Ed Cameron

Mr. Ed Cameron began working in Molloy’s History Department in 2003, and became our Assistant Principal for Curriculum, Instruction, and Mission in 2012. A product of Catholic education himself, he is a proud Marist and believer of the Marist Mission. After receiving both his bachelor and master’s degrees in History from St. John’s University, he went on to obtain his MSEd in Education Administration from the University of Scranton. Additionally, Mr. Cameron holds an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Catholic School Leadership from Creighton University, a NYS School Building Leader Certification, and a NYS Permanent Teaching Certification. While a full-time member of the Administration, Mr. Cameron has continued to teach in Molloy’s History Department, with classes ranging from Freshman Pre-AP World History to Senior Elective “The Second World War.”

Dr. Des Flynn

 

Des Flynn '97 

Dr. Des Flynn is currently the Assistant Principal for Academics at Molloy. After receiving an Engineering Degree at The Cooper Union, he attended Lehman College & the College of Saint Rose for his masters/professional degrees in Education as well as School & District Administration. Additionally, Dr. Flynn holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. After working for two decades in the DOE, he now teaches in Molloy’s Math and CS&E Departments. Over the years, his jobs have included STEM teacher, Math & Engineering Department chairperson, and Assistant Principal. He has completed two year-long leadership training programs: Advanced Leadership Program for Aspiring Principals (ALPAP) & Assistant Principal Leadership Institute (APLI). Outside of Molloy, Dr. Flynn serves as an Adjunct Professor at both St. John's University and Queens College, teaching courses in education and mathematics.
