Ten days and counting… the summer has gone by at a record pace and much has been done this year to improve life at Molloy.

Last year approximately 400 Stanners and their families attended the Harvey Fun Run and Homecoming Celebration for our 50th Anniversary. It was so much fun that President John Sherry asked that we do it again. Plans include the Fun Run — Don’t forget to register — followed by a day of family fun and entertainment. Stanner Bands are encouraged to call Charlie Flood in the Development Office if you are interested in taking to the stage for a while that day, and there will be picnic food prepared in the back lot for all who choose to participate.

We would love to make this an annual event. It is an opportunity for Parents, Students, Alumni and all of our extended Stanner Family to get together and just plain celebrate who we are. Save the Date, start training for the fun run… register for both events and come out for a day of fun!
The gym floors have been prepared for another year of full-time use. The new Jack Curran emblem has been permanently painted onto the floor and it looks terrific. Stop by for a game this season and see Coach as he works his magic for another season.
Freshman Camp and the special camps at Esopus were all a great success this summer. Here are a few freshman camp photos from Br. Roy George:

For 11 weeks each summer, the Marist Brothers’ property in Esopus, NY becomes home to the Mid-Hudson Valley Camp. The MHVC’s volunteer staff is comprised of students, alumni, faculty, family, and friends of various Marist Brothers schools. When the warm weather rolls around, these generous souls volunteer their time to provide a low cost summer camp/vacation experience to the neediest of families. The MHVC’s populations include inner city children from Chinatown and the South Bronx, children and adults with developmental disabilities, deaf children, children with cancer, and children living with HIV/AIDS.

It has been a long, hot summer for the teams of workmen supervised by our own Gino Fazio. The Maine farmers have an expression as they prepare their fields for planting. While plowing most discover that “under every rock, is another rock!”. Well Gino has stayed on top of the process this summer and from all rumors, the cabinets are going in this week. Tom Catalanotto, another Stanner — and Fantastic craftsman, built the cabinets for this custom chemistry lab. It is truly amazing what can happen when we pull together for the good of Molloy. Enjoy the pictures and keep posted for the dedication of the new lab…
