Latest News: November, 2007

Our Annual Coat Drive was a huge success- we were able to donate a record 620 coats to 3 different shelters. A huge thank you also for those who made such beautiful boxes for Operation Christmas Child- we collected 110 boxes for children all over the world.

Our Annual Toy Drive will begin on November 28th and will last until December 14th. Sponsor-A-Child forms will be handed out during homeroom, but anyone can pick up a form in the general office or Campus Ministry office to buy a toy for a child. A form is not needed though- anyone can buy a toy and bring it to the school. No used toys will be accepted. Toys will be donated to the Shelter, Catholic Charities, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Please contact Mr. Germano in the Campus Ministry Office 718.943.3163 or e-mail him at mgermano@molloyhs.org for more information regarding these and upcoming events.

On behalf of Campus Ministry, we wish everyone a blessed Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2008.

SUMMER CAMPS

For over thirty summer, the Marist Brothers have sponsored one-week summer camps for the handicapped. Last summer alone, over 800 handicapped children and adults had the opportunity for a week in the country in Esopus, New York, giving their families a much-appreciated respite. These camps serve the mentally handicapped, the deaf, children with cancer, and children with terminal illnesses. Student volunteers work at these camps, where there is a one-to-one ratio of counselors to campers. Some who started this program as students continue to volunteer as adults, bringing their wives and children with them.

For the campers, this program provides an opportunity that is truly unique, as most camps cannot accommodate their special needs.
