Mr. Richard Rodgers


Mr. Richard Rodgers, class of ‘65, has been proudly associated with the Marist Brothers since 1958. While at Molloy, Rodgers was a member of the track team. He is record holder for Molloy outdoor freshman shot-put from 1962 to 1995. He also still holds the record for the sophomore shot-put set in 1963. From 1969 to 1970 Rodgers was co-captain for the St. John’s University track team. He returned to Molloy as a physical education teacher in 1974 and acted as assistant field coach until 1998. Rodgers won the 1982-’83 CHSAA Brooklyn-Queens Field Coach of the Year award. With the help of Jim Sheldon, the two started Molloy’s first hockey team in 1998. Rodgers then was head hockey coach from 1998 to 2004 and won the Varsity B Division Championship in the last season.
