Mr. John Diorio

Mr. John Diorio was born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He attended Epiphany Grammar School, La Salle Academy High School, St. John’s University, and received his Masters degree in 1963 from Fordham University. He began his teaching career at Molloy in 1960. He served as coach to the Freshman Basketball team from 1964-1966. One of his many contributions to the academic life at Molloy was the introduction of the American Government course for seniors. He also moderated the Political Science Club from 1968 through 1995.

John’s work outside of school is not that different from the work he does with our students. He has supported the elections of Congressman Joseph Addabbo, Governor Nelson Rockefeller, Nassau County Executive Ralph Caso, the congressional and mayoral campaigns of John V. Lindsay and served as the executive assistant to Mr. Vincent F. Albano, Jr. the New York Republican County Chairman. His teaching guided the political formation of both Andrew Cuomo and John Faso.

John has brought countless alumni speakers into his classroom, which represents his commitment to our motto – “Not for School - But for Life.”
