Ms. Maryann Safrey

Ms. MaryAnn Safrey has served as Assistant Principal for Academics/Testing since 2010 and coordinates all Regents and AP Testing. Her teaching  spans 35 years, 25 of which have been at Molloy. She has a B.A. in English Literature and Philosophy/Theology from Marymount Manhattan College and did her graduate work in English and Education at Queens College. She's instructed grades K through 12, working initially as a library resource teacher and elementary school reading teacher. She was a Middle School Language Arts teacher/coordinator in a parish school in Lynbrook, New York.  She taught Religion, English, and was a Sophomore Guidance Counselor/ grade advisor at Kellenberg High School; she also worked in Lynbrook and Sewanhaka High Schools. She has taught across the English curriculum and moderated National Honor Society, Liturgy Committee, and founded the Theater Arts and Improv Club over her time at Molloy. She still teaches a section of senior Drama. She's participated in poetry workshops at Middlebury College, did sabbatical study/writing in poetry at The Frost Place in New Hampshire, and authored a novella that was published in anthology in 2001.
